The unison of continents, cultures and colors; 12th International Students’ Gathering completed its Ethiopian phase. The event, which noticed remarkable presence of Turkish Alumni from Ethiopia and international students continuing their education in Turkey helped plant deeper intercontinental leniency and love.
This year, the 12th International Students’ Gathering organized by UDEF with the motto of “For a Just World, From East to West” in 51 countries and 91 different cities has concluded its Ethiopian phase with indelible impressions.
The event was held in the capital city of Addis Ababa was attended by Evren Muderrisoglu Counsellor of Embassy of Republic of Turkey Ethiopia, Levent Sahin Director of Turkish Maarif Foundation Ethiopia and South Sudan, Cemil Alici Representative of Presidency of Religious Affairs for Ethiopia, Huseyin Yuksek Manager of Turkish Airlines Addis Ababa, Kubilay Han Kalkan Representative of Yunus Emre Institute Addis Ababa, representatives from UDEF; Veysel Basal, Mehmet Celik, Nuri Atici and Ufukhan Ozer, representatives of various NGOs and international students.
Increasing Interest about Turkey
After the recitation from Noble Quran, Veysel Basar who attended the event on behalf of UDEF presented his speech. Veysel Basar mentioned, “With every passing year, the general interest regarding Turkey is on rise and with this the number international students has increased significantly. We endeavor not to leave our fellow students alone who come to study in Turkey miles and miles away from their homes.”
We Strive to be Ansar
After Mr. Veysel, Mr. Mehmet Celik from UDEF mentioning the increase associated with raising the standards of education opportunities in Turkey also conveyed, “Turkey meets fairly favorable conditions for university education. We as UDEF try to be Ansar (of utmost help) to our international students irrespective of their origin. With our 64 different associations throughout Turkey we are always by the side of our international students.”

Counsellor of Turkish Embassy in Addis Ababa, Evren Muderrisoglu in his speech said, “I would like to extend my gratitude towards UDEF for their efforts. These events and activities not only are means to introduce and promote Turkey to outer world but carries a greater virtue from the view of international students.”
Musical and local dance performances made the event more vibrant. At the end of the program, participants were served with the Ethiopian delicacies.
