International Students from 26 different countries in Giresun came together to be part of UDEF’s 12th International Students’ Gathering.
The event that was organized by the joint effort of UDEF affiliated Giresun International Students Association and Giresun University hosted exhibition stands of international students from 26 different countries. With these stands, students were able to introduce their traditional sports, dances and other belongings to the local public. The event was held at Ataturk Square in which some 300 students from Chad, Burundi, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Iran and other countries participated.
Abdullah Demir, President of Giresun International Student Association, in his inaugural speech said, “It is our main goal to have the students to own consciousness of universal brotherhood, to know the modern world order, to have high organizational capability, to be aware of the situation and requirements of their countries, to know the glorious of Islamic culture and history and to return to their countries as volunteer ambassadors of civilization.”
Ali Arikmet, Director of Alumni Education Department at Turkish Maarif Foundation, speaking on behalf of UDEF said, “The number of international students have been noticed to be on surge since 2004. International students who travel to Turkey from far off their homes, we try our level best not leaving them alone being by their side in all situations. As UDEF, we strive to bridge hearts with the motive of Ansar-Muhajir Brotherhood. We support international students with counselling, guidance, stipend and accommodation, meanwhile, reminding them of their vital role in the establishment of a world full of peace”
Addressing the event, Rector of Giresun University, Prof. Dr. Cevdet Coskun, “I would like to extend my greetings to everyone who came up to be a part of this outstanding brotherly atmosphere. And I would even extend my gratitude to Giresun International Student Association, UDEF and all those who put their efforts to organize this colorful event with colors from all over the world.”
The event noticed distinguished presence of Prof. Dr. Cevdet Coskun, Mayor Adv. Aytekin Senlikoglu, Ali Arimert, Vice-Rector of Giresun University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cin, General Secretary Ahmet Tevfik Korkmaz, international student and local public.
